When is it paid?

Open-ended contract

The notice period applies to open-ended employment contracts. A fixed-term contract ends by itself when the term runs out.

Termination without notice

The party that ends the contract without observing the notice period pays this amount to the other side. If the worker leaves without notice, notice pay can be claimed from the worker.

Just cause

When the worker or employer terminates immediately for just cause, no notice period is required. No notice pay arises.

The periods are in article 17 of Labour Law 4857. Sources are on the rates page. Severance is a separate calculation. A written summary is in the notice guide.
