What people call maternity pay is three separate payments. SGK pays the maternity benefit, SGK also pays the nursing benefit, and the Ministry of Family and Social Services pays the birth grant. Law 7578 raised the post-birth period from 8 weeks to 16 weeks on 1 May 2026. A single pregnancy totals 24 weeks, 168 days. A multiple pregnancy is 182 days. Calculators that write 112 days use the old rule.

Daily earnings are pensionable earnings in the 12 months before the birth divided by premium days. Daily benefit is 2/3 of that. On minimum wage daily benefit is 734 TL, 123,312 TL over 168 days. 90 short-term premium days in the year before the birth are required.
Nursing and the birth grant are not mixed
- The 2026 nursing benefit is 1,621 TL. Paid once on a live birth. A 120-day premium condition applies.
- The birth grant is a ministry payment. Insurance is not required. The chart does not calculate it.
- If the doctor allows work until two weeks before the birth, the total stays 168 days; the period shifts to after the birth.
An illness report drops the first two days; maternity does not. The two calculations are separate.
